As expected, Detroit, Michigan, Cass Tech five-star wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones has committed to Michigan. He made the announcement live on ESPN2 Thursday evening.

The 6-foot-2, 193-pounder is considered the top-rated wideout and the No. 11 prospect overall in the Class of 2017. He picked the Wolverines over finalists Florida, Florida State, Michigan State and Ohio State.

The Buckeyes rolled out the red carpet for Peoples-Jones during his official visit for the Oct. 8 game against Indiana, at which time he and his family notably met with school president Dr. Michael Drake and athletic director Gene Smith under the south stands of Ohio Stadium.

Peoples-Jones subsequently visited the other finalists in the weeks since, and Ohio Sate made one final push on Sunday, as head coach Urban Meyer, wide receivers coach Zach Smith and defensive backs coach Kerry Coombs made a trip to Detroit with a reported 10 inches of snow on the ground to meet with him before the dead period began.

But it was apparently too little too late, as his official visit to Ann Arbor this past weekend was all that was needed for the Wolverines to seal the deal.
