The Hurry Up is your nightcap of Ohio State recruiting news, catching you up on the day’s events with an ear on the ground for what’s next.

DANNY DAVIS STILL ON THE RADAR

Every year, there seems to be a few big-time players that don't–for whatever reason–get caught up in the lunacy of the recruiting business.

In the 2017 class, Springfield's Danny Davis seems to fit that bill. If you're looking for a mega-talented wide receiver prospect, Davis checks all the boxes. He's 6-foot-3, runs well (listed right near 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash), he can jump out of the gym, he catches the ball well, he plays against Ohio's top competition, etc. For some reason, though, Davis doesn't seem to elicit the "buzz" that others who match that description do.

Maybe he should.

"Davis is really good," one source close to Ohio State said. "I think he gets lost in the mix with Trevon Grimes, Jaylen Harris, etc. But he's got a lot of upside and can be as good as either of them."

Davis currently has offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern and others, but right now the Buckeyes are still in wait and see mode.

"He got hurt last summer and couldn't camp, so there wasn't a chance to see him live," the source added. "If he gets to camp this summer, it may be a different story."

ANOTHER 2018 QUARTERBACK AT OHIO STATE TODAY

Ohio State has hosted a trio of 2018 quarterbacks so far this spring (Phil Jurkovec, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, John Foreback), and Thursday it hosted another.

Casey Thompson, a 6-foot, 185-pound dual-threat prospect from Moore, Oklahoma, has made the trip to Ohio and is seemingly impressed by what the Buckeyes have shown him.

Thompson is the country's fifth-ranked 2018 quarterback and 151st-ranked player overall. Miami, Oklahoma State, Oregon State and others have offered, but he told Rivals that Ohio State is one of the schools he's hearing from the most this year.

"There are certain schools that are high on me that reach out to me quite often through my high school coaches. Those schools are Ohio State, Miami, Arizona State, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, and Oregon," he told Rivals. "I call Urban Meyer himself once a week and Tim Beck and Ohio State."

Depending on how the 2017 quarterback picture shakes out (read: does J.T. Barrett leave early for the NFL, which is unlikely but possible and all but forces Ohio State to take a second quarterback this year), I'd expect a heavy pursuit for two at the position in the 2018 class. It's clear with how aggressive they've been in getting these young players in front of them this spring that there's no desire to dilly-dally.

FOUR-STAR CORNERBACK CHECKING OUT BUCKEYES

Another highly-ranked 2018 prospect is on campus Thursday with Ohio State.

Cornerback Christian Tutt, the country's 33rd-ranked player is in Columbus checking out the Buckeyes. He was at Michigan and Michigan State on Tuesday, where he added his 31st offer, and Notre Dame Wednesday.

Tutt hails from Thomson, Georgia, but transferred in January to the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. However, Tutt is back at Thomson and will, presumably, finish his high school where it began.

It's always interesting to track the careers of a player who has transferred, and certainly the back-and-forth act in the last three months will open some eyes. Whatever reasons emerge for the school-swapping, Tutt's talent is undeniable and any prospect who makes a spring trip to the Midwest from SEC country is worth paying attention to.

Ohio State offered Tutt in November and this visit will help the two sides see if they're a possible fit.

CAM SPENCE DECIDING TOMORROW

Early in his recruiting process, 2017 defensive tackle Cam Spence was very high on the Buckeyes and vice-versa, though in the last few months things appear to have cooled between the two sides. Last week, Spence dropped his Top 15 schools on Twitter and now, Friday morning at 8 a.m. he'll make his college commitment.

Ohio State has a major presence at IMG with two commitments on the Ascenders' roster. When it comes to Spence, though, they've also already landed two defensive tackles in 2017, so the chance of this four-star choosing Ohio State is not very high.
