An Ohio State basketball great will be the third pregame Victory Bell ringer at Ohio Stadium.
Fresh off being enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame last weekend as the recipient of the Curt Gowdy Electronic Media Award, Kellogg will do the honors of ringing the Victory Bell before Ohio State’s third game of the season vs. Ohio.

Kellogg becomes the third Ohio State luminary to ring the Victory Bell pregame in one of Ohio State’s new traditions for the 2025 football season. Two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin was Ohio State’s first-ever pregame Victory Bell ringer before the season opener vs. Texas, while former Ohio State coach John Cooper rang the bell before the Buckeyes’ second game of the year vs. Grambling State.
Kellogg played for Ohio State from 1979-82, averaging 14.9 points and 10.1 rebounds per game across his career as a three-year starter. He earned Big Ten MVP honors in his junior season, then was selected with the No. 8 overall pick in the 1982 NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers.
He’s become best-known for his work in television, as Kellogg has been a college basketball analyst for CBS Sports since 1993. He also served on Ohio State’s Board of Trustees from 2010-19.
Kellogg’s son, Nick, played basketball at Ohio from 2010-14 but now works for Ohio State as the basketball team’s NIL and community relations coordinator.
