COLUMBUS – Ohio State basketball season-ticket holders had an opportunity to spend some time with the Buckeyes’ new coach during “An Evening with Chris Holtmann” at Value City Arena on Tuesday night.
"We’re excited about this coming year, and excited about being home," Holtmann told the crowd of Buckeyes fans. "Each and every day we’re here, I think we get more and more excited to be your coach, to be your coaching staff."
A larger-than-expected crowd turned out at the Schottenstein Center on Tuesday to listen to Holtmann speak. Holtmann drew applause from the crowd at numerous occasions during the event – especially when he expressed his interest in bringing stronger non-conference opponents to Columbus – and received a standing ovation from the season-ticket holders at the conclusion of the program.
Holtmann said he hopes to turn Tuesday night’s event into an annual occurrence.
"That would be my suggestion, if there’s a demand for it, that I would love to do it every year," Holtmann said. "I think it can give some that would like to have maybe an insight into the program, maybe able to ask some questions, I think it gives them access that they would like. So I’d be more than happy to do it."
