The Ohio State men’s lacrosse team is, once again, on the Big Ten mountaintop in 2025.
After securing the Big Ten regular season crown on April 19, the Buckeyes earned the Big Ten Tournament Championship on Saturday — taking down Maryland 14-10 in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Ohio State surged early in the contest, scoring the game’s first five goals and never looking back in the wire-to-wire victory. Sophomore attackman Garrett Haas netted a pair of goals during that scoring barrage, helping the Buckeyes take a 6-1 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Sophomore goalie Caleb Fyock was nearly perfect in the opening frame, turning away five of Maryland’s six shots on goal.
Maryland cut the deficit to as little as three during the second quarter, boosted by a pair of goals from senior Eric Spanos. But, a goal from graduate midfielder Griffin Turner closed the half on a high note for the Buckeyes, who took a 9-5 advantage into the break.

Ohio State scored a pair of goals to open the second half, with freshman midfielder Liam White and senior attackman Jack McKenna finding twine to extend the lead to six midway through the frame.
Despite producing 12 shots in the frame, the Terrapins could only find the back of the net three times, and Ohio State maintained a 13-8 lead heading into the final quarter.

While Ohio State’s offense sputtered in the final frame, Fyock was stout in the fourth quarter. Maryland outshot Ohio State 16-4 during the game’s final 15 minutes, but Fyock turned away 10 of the Terrapins' 12 shots on goal to ward off a comeback attempt by the Terrapins.

Fyock finished the night with 19 saves and was recognized as the game’s Most Outstanding Player. Haas led Ohio State in scoring with a trio of goals.
The Buckeyes avenged a regular-season loss to the Terrapins en route to the title, shaking off a 13-8 loss to Maryland on April 12.
With the win, Ohio State earned an automatic bid to the 18-team NCAA Tournament. The Buckeyes will learn their opponent on Sunday at 9:30 p.m., with the drawing shown live on ESPNU.
