Ohio State women’s tennis won a Big Ten title on Saturday night in the best way possible: Beating Michigan in the championship match.

In a tight contest that came down to the final singles match, Ohio State freshman Nao Nishino defeated Michigan freshman Emily Sartz-Lunde in three sets to earn a 4-3 victory over the second-seeded Buckeyes over the top-seeded Wolverines in the Big Ten Tournament final.

Sydni Ratliff, Teah Chavez and Luciana Perry also won their singles matches to lead the Buckeyes to victory after Michigan opened the match by winning the doubles point.

With the win, Ohio State women’s tennis won its first Big Ten Tournament championship since 2021, ending a three-year streak of conference tournament titles for the team up north.

The Buckeye men will look to make it a two-title weekend for Ohio State tennis on Sunday as they face UCLA in the Big Ten men’s tennis tournament championship match. The match between the No. 1 seed Buckeyes and No. 2 seed Bruins begins at noon at Ohio State’s Auer Tennis Complex and will be streamed on B1G+.
