An Ohio State gymnast won a national championship on Saturday night.
Kameron Nelson won gold in the vault in the NCAA championship finals on Saturday night, posting a winning score of 14.633 with a perfectly landed vault.

Nelson is the first Ohio State gymnast to win a national title since Alec Yodel won the NCAA championship in pommel horse in 2019.
The NCAA vault title caps off what was already a historic senior season for Nelson, who made world gymnastics history earlier in the season when he became the first gymnast ever to land two triple backs in the same floor routine.

Nelson earned a third-place NCAA finish in floor on Saturday in addition to his vault gold.

Nelson was one of two Buckeyes to earn All-American honors on Saturday along with Parker Thackston, who placed sixth in pommel horse.

Ohio State came up just short of making the final as a team, finishing fourth in its NCAA qualifier on Friday. Michigan won the NCAA team championship.
