MLB All Star is Everything Wrong with the Game

Yesterday's all star game demonstrated everything wrong with the game.

First, I played Baseball to the D2 level in college and have coached at all levels from LL to High school. So i love the game.

That said, MLB games have become unwatchable anymore

1) game failed to sellout as even MLB's "official" attendance showed them at 4K under capacity for the rather smallish Dodger stadium

2) pace of play took 3 hours and 11 minutes - 41 minutes or over 27% longer than a typical game from the 1970's

3) The games biggest star (Ohtani), gets picked off in the 1st inning and everyone laughs, ie not taking the game serious at all (for old times like me who watched Rose plow Fosse in 1970, if they can be bothered why should I?

4) 22 K's between the 2 squads - in 1970 there were only 18 K's in a game that went 12 innings - there were 72 Plate appearances and 22 were K's that's 30.6%, in 1970 there were 96 PAs and only 18 K or only 18.8% K's, can you say BORING

5) The OB% last night was only 26%, in 1970 it was 33.3%

6) when excluding the 3 true outcomes, only 58% of PAs led to a ball in play, while in 1970 it was 73%, again BORING

7) not a single run was scored across the last 44 PAs (after the back to back HRs)

8) this included 13Ks or nearly 30% of PAs (Boring)

9) And only 5 hits in the last 33 ABs for a .152 BA (Boring)

10) the combined BA this year were only .197 and 1970 it was .253

Need i say it again, they have ruined a game that was already slow paced and made it unwatchably boring
