One of my close friends moved to Greece last year, and he misses watching a lot of sports on TV because of the time difference (I believe they are seven hours ahead of EST). Anyway, after the Super Bowl Sunday, he made a comment about how all the championship games have been epic and dramatic since he moved: Patriots win in biggest comeback ever in overtime; Cubs beat the Indians in the tenth inning of a seesaw game seven; Clemson defeats Bama with one second on the clock; Cavs beat the Warriors in an incredibly intense game seven; and Villanova bests North Carolina on a buzzer beater after it looked like the Heels had won it on a double clutch shot a few seconds earlier. Not to mention that the Cubs and Cavs ended long-standing droughts, each by coming back from seemingly insurmountable odds in their respective series. The only major sport that lacked a dramatic championship game/series was the NHL. We then joked that the Blue Jackets were going to come back from a three games to zero deficit to win game seven in sudden death overtime this year.
Of course, this past year would have been a lot better with the football Buckeyes and Indians winning out, but yet it was quite a crazy year for championships. What are your thoughts?
