When I was a kid, I had a friend of the family from Oklahoma. He told us the story of his family participating every year in the sport of rattlesnake roundup to win prizes for the biggest Diamondback rattlesnake. He was the youngest of several brothers and would stand knee deep in rattlesnakes while friends and family would throw snakes at him to stash in a half sided trailer. They put in the trailer because he lost a bet to his brothers that he could hop a moving train which cost him his right arm and they felt he sling a snake as effective.
