In light of the Robinson-Knighton news of the last 24 hours, I was thinking about how often the staff has had to chase RBs from around the country in recent years. Convincing kids to come from the South or the West Coast to Ohio is going to produce a few epic misses.
Which led me to this question - what happened to all the Ohio RB talent?
Just scrolling through the recruiting rankings over the last decade on 247 shows a complete void in big-time, three-down running backs over that span. In fact, LJ Scott is probably the most impressive name on the list that I encountered in the ten-year search. For a state that seems to produce so many legit NFL players at almost every other position (and one that churned out great RBs for decades), what has happened? I'm pretty sure 3* Dan Herron was the last legit starter the Buckeyes had at the position back in 2010-11.
It's an interesting idea. I would love to hear some thoughts.
