After reading the tremendous film study thread from Jtforpresident (go check it out), two personnel changes become abundantly clear. 1) Start Padilla. This has been harped for weeks, but Tegra isn’t cutting it. We have shown to run the ball better with Padilla in there, and I believe he gets the start next Saturday. 2) Start Tate in the slot. This one will not happen, but I’d sure love it if it did. Everyone knows that his first touchdown last week was a result of him being stuck in the slot, and that’s simply not a play Brandon Inniss can make. As Jtforpres pointed out, teams love playing zone against us, specifically cover 2 or QQH on longer passing downs. Having Tate in the slot allows us to attack the middle of the field where the coverage is weaker, drawing matchup nightmares with Smith and Tate on the same side. Graham/Porter/Rodgers can more than hold their own on the outside. Inniss is a true buckeye and a great leader, but I think we’d be more threatening without him in the slot.
