Regardless of how you’d like to spin it, the run game the past few years has not been the OSU run game we’ve been accustomed to. It seems Day values pass protection over run blocking, considering we have always protected the quarterback very well under Day, but it is time to rely on runs between the tackles to sustain drives and create explosives. This season, we’ve had decent success running, but haven’t really been forced to hand it off. Not very many TFLs or 0 gainers, but very few over 10 yards. I’m not sure what it will take, but if they don’t rep this now, I fear a TTUN game repeat. I like how Day has experimented with Tegra out of the lineup because, seriously, if you choose any random play there’s a high likelihood he’s on the ground with his man behind him. The main priority is winning, of course, but we can’t avoid the run forever, and ≈5 YPC won’t cut it. TTUN’s Oline is significantly worse yet they are getting 6+ YPC.
