Night games are awesome. Just a totally different vibe than noon kickoffs. The stadium was packed ten minutes before kickoff (other than two very small areas in the top corners of the student section) and just about everyone was wearing scarlet again (the “helmet stripe” theme vs Ohio was dumb and did not look good). It was a beautiful site. Posting this to give my opinion on the new traditions:

1) Brutus’ entrance last night was via a box on the field that he popped out of. It was Brutus’ 60th birthday and they had the stadium sing happy birthday to him. And they had guys who had been Brutus throughout the years on the field. Up to now he’s been riding into the stadium on a sports car or hot rod and he has his own hype video and music. This has been a good change imo. I was wondering before the game how they would introduce him.

2) Ringing of the Victory Bell: very cool imo. Gets the crowd hyped up before the game.

3) The towels are dead. Only people with towels were the ushers. My two towels from the Texas game are in my hall closet lol.

4) MC Crump was there again last night. He’s great on the mic.

5) The Ohio song after the first quarter is ok. It’s not a hype song but the video that they made for it is really cool. Much better overall than some stupid corporate presentation.

When Minnesota came out for the first play and MC Crump got the crowd going the Gophers had to burn a timeout. When they came back out they started to play “Mo Bamba” over the stadium and that really got the crowd going. They should utilize more on big plays for the defense moving forward.
