***Trigger warning for those of us old enough to remember, this post will mention an Ohio state football coach who coached after Earl Bruce but before Jim Tressel.
I was thinking today that the Washington game would have pretty much been a definite L under John Cooper. His teams, even the best ones, would typically blow blow a Big Ten game for no apparent reason, and would always look past opponents. (I am getting irate as I type this thinking about the MSU game we lost at home.) Taking on a quality team on the road would have been disaster under Cooper.
Give Ryan Day credit. His teams are always prepared, never overlook an opponent, and show development from game to game. Washington was a hostile environment and they went there and solidly thumped the Huskies. Do not think that any coach out there can just walk in and do he has been doing. Any football team is just one bad hire away from being Dabo Swinney-ed.
