So, we had a fumbled punt return and a long kickoff return, bad juju.
On the other hand:
1. Brandon has been much better about fielding the ball and being aggressive getting up field on the balls that are returnable. To me the most important piece of the punt return is fielding the on the fly in our own territory. He ended up fumbling deep in their territory. Certainly disappointed in the fumble but in balance mostly happy with him back there as the season progresses.
2. Yep, gave up a long kickoff return but shout out to our kicker for throwing himself in front of a guy that probably outweighed him by near 100 lbs and going full speed to get the TD saving tackle.
3. ... And whatever happened to cause the long return got fixed and #5 came in like a missile to get the tackle inside the 25 on the next two returns
4. Fielding made a high stakes field goal with the game still in doubt
5. The field goal defense unit prevented the fake from being successful. W's coach says it was execution but my take after watching the replay was our unit was prepared and there is no way they would have got the 1st down.
Absolutely disappointed in the lost fumble and long return but in the aggregate I can't bring myself to be that disappointed in overall special teams play this game.
