With the exception of the Maryland versus Wisconsin matchup, in which both teams ran the ball for 61 yards. The winner of B1G matchups last night dominated running the football.
Iowa 160–Rutgers 70
TCUN 286–Nebraska 43 (c’mon Huskers! Do better!)
Indiana 312–Illinois 2 (yikes!)
USC 283–MSU 108

One, you can never outguess Vegas, who had Indiana installed as a pretty heavy favorite at home. I really thought Bert‘s group would play with more physicality, but Indiana dominated the line of scrimmage.
Two, this does not mean I want the Buckeyes to adopt a stubborn run first mentality. We all know where that gets us. But it certainly supports the early numbers on Brian Hartline’s play-calling which skews more towards the run than the pass right now. Of course, early and small sample size affects that. Lastly, maybe the development of Bo Jackson as RB1 is vital…though really it was line of scrimmage domination more than anything else that affected the running numbers from last night.
PS: Bring Fickell home as one of those “special assistants” to be in place as Larry Johnson’s long term replacement.
