It's hardly breaking news Ohio State's had a tremendous run producing a high volume of elite receivers especially since Ryan Day and Brian Hartline joined the staff ahead of the 2017 season.
The pipeline of dudes they've developed to be stars at Ohio State before going onto the NFL is staggering. And of course there's no signs of a slow down with Jeremiah Smith simply waiting on draft eligibility so he can be a Top-5 pick and Carnell Tate should be a 2nd-rounder at worst come next April. And of course a host of blue chips sit behind them waiting their turn in Columbus.
That said, thinking about the long list of receivers to play at Ohio State since 2017, which guys would you pick to fill out your three-deep comprised of two outside receivers and one slot receiver if you were coaching an NFL game tomorrow?
Make sure your slot receivers are actually guys who've consistently played a lot of slot and assume all players are healthy.
Your list of candidates includes names like Parris Campbell, K.J. Hill, Terry McLaurin, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Marvin Harrison Jr., Emeka Egbuka, Carnell Tate and Jeremiah Smith.
I'm going with this:
THREE-DEEP | WIDE RECEIVER 1 | WIDE RECEIVER 2 | SLOT RECEIVER |
---|---|---|---|
STARTER | MARVIN HARRISON JR. | GARRETT WILSON | JAXON SMITH-NJIGBA |
BACKUP 1 | JEREMIAH SMITH | TERRY MCLAURIN | EMEKA EGBUKA |
BACKUP 2 | CARNELL TATE | CHRIS OLAVE | JAMESON WILLIAMS |
