A few other takeaways from what’s been talked about:
- The main thing I was looking forward to this game was Hartline’s growth as a playcaller. I came away very impressed with his playcalling. Everything seemed to be in rhythm. Great sequence and plays/formations built off of each other with a purpose. Good mix and match of personnel this game. Also creativity. On that deep pass to Tate in the 2nd qt, a 2nd RB came in Bo Jackson was lined up out wide and came back in with jet sweep motion, and Hartline play actioned off of it.
- I was afraid we’d never see this again, but finally we went with tempo on offense in the 1st half. That was good to see.
- Obviously Sayin has elite accuracy. You can’t help but think Aaron Rodgers when you try to compare his game to someone.
- For second straight week, the OL does a great job in pass protection. Obviously you have to consider the opponent, but I was looking for how the guys communicated up front, passing off guys, handling twists/stunts, and picking up blitzes. And they did very well here.
- We’re going to look up in the next year or two, and realize that 2025 recruiting class was crazy good. That class is deep and talented. Every single position group has at least one “hit”.
- Time to stop messing around at PR. Bryson Rodgers needs to be back there permanently.
- If there is one thing I wish was a little better is, for the second straight week there doesn’t seem to be much of a pash rush with the front four. Not a lot of twists or stunts this game, which normally frees up pash rushers. But also not a lot of dominating 1:1 against the guy in front of you, and vs an inferior opponent.
