For Nigel it’s his dad’s old Eddie George jersey:

My father was a HUGE Buckeyes through and through. Sadly, he’s no longer with us, but the one piece of him I’ll always have is his Eddie George jersey. Growing up, I heard the story a hundred times, and every time it gave me goosebumps.

Legend has it that back in 1998, Dad was walking through the Nashville airport in his Ohio State Eddie George jersey when he spotted Eddie George himself. Dad was stunned. He idolized Eddie. Before he could even muster the courage to say anything, Eddie looked at him, grinned, and said, “Nice jersey.” Right there in the middle of the terminal, Eddie pulled out a pen and signed it across the numbers. My dad always said it felt like a moment of fate that stitched the Buckeyes into his life forever.

That jersey became his good luck charm. He only wore it for the biggest games, and I remember as a kid watching him slip it on, almost like he was suiting up himself. It was tradition. It was pride. It was Ohio State.

Now it’s mine. I don’t wear it often, but when I do, it feels like I’m carrying both my dad’s memory and a piece of Buckeyes history with me.
