One of the problems I've heard about the likely new roster limit of 105 players is that it will make it harder to fill out practice teams for Spring and Fall camp as well as scout teams for practice during the season. With fewer walk on players on the roster who normally fill those spots. On the other hand we now have no limit on the number of on field coaches.
I was thinking that the Buckeyes could fill out the necessary number of bodies with a "Practice Squad." These people would officially be GA's/coaching assistants. They wouldn't be part of the roster and couldn't play during games. But they could practice and be on the scout team. You could draw on recent former players not in the NFL.
I recall Coach Day throwing passes during Spring camp, so there can't be any rule preventing this.
