Losing to Michigan always sucks. Losing to Michigan for the fourth time in a row, as a 19.5-point favorite, at home, is nightmare fuel.

As such, emotions are still running red hot with most of the vitriol directed at Ryan Day and to a lesser extent, Chip Kelly. The majority of comments on 11W and Twitter say Day should be fired immediately. Many others have said they don't even want OSU in the playoffs.

For Day, it's obvious the three previous losses to the Wolverines and the ongoing narrative about his team's toughness were in his head on Saturday as his offensive game plan appeared to stupefyingly be "let's run it up the gut into the strength of Michigan's defense over and over and not try to take advantage our elite receiving corps."

As rage-inducing as the loss was for many, there's also the reality Ohio State is safely in the CFP field thanks to the expanded 12-team playoff, currently projected to be a 9-seed taking on Tennessee in Knoxville in a first round matchup. I don't know how confident I am that OSU can go on a 4-game bender and win the national title but the Buckeyes do currently have the 3rd-best odds to do so and it's not like this team doesn't have a ton of talent.

For many raised on the notion beating Michigan is the only thing that matters and that showing more hate toward the Wolverines than others makes you a better fan, the function of the expanded playoff giving more teams a shot at winning a national title even if they've lost a rivalry game is tough to sort through.

So here's the question, in this new era of college football, which do you value more if you can only have one: a win over Michigan or a national title?
