The rivalry is an interesting dynamic right now. I unfortunately was at the game today and there are a couple things of note I experienced on the way out of the stadium.
- OSU fans as a collective were chanting “Fire Ryan Day!” on the way out of the stadium.
- Michigan fans taunted OSU fans on the way out saying we shouldn’t fire Ryan Day, we should give him a pay raise.
I also have a friend who’s a Michigan fan and he texted me today saying “thank God for Ryan Day. He can’t beat us.”
I was admittedly a Ryan Day apologist up until the Oregon game. We had two games circled on our schedule going into this season and we lost them both. I get home and look on 11W and while the majority seem to be in agreement that this is the final straw for Day, somehow there are still some OSU fans who continue to be Ryan Day apologists despite actual Michigan fans begging for us to retain him as they are living their glory years.
Why? How? If Ryan Day couldn’t beat this terrible 6-5 Michigan team who lost all their starters, all their coaching staff, playing without Loveland, Will Johnson, and played a walk on QB, what exactly do you think Ryan Day needs to win? Have you just accepted mediocrity and you’re fine with it? I genuinely want to know where your head is.
“Who else would you get?” doesn’t explain you being a Ryan Day apologist. This portion of our fanbase is starting to sound like Michigan fans.
