as of the start of the 2023 season, there are 47 former buckeyes on active NFL rosters. that is 2nd, behind Alabama's 57 players.
i like to be unbiased in everything i do, including my view of sports, so i do admit that Alabama (57 players), Georgia (46) and LSU (43) produce elite NFL talent at a very high clip as well... but since 2016 i dont think it can be argued against the fact that OSU is producing the best YOUNG players amongst these programs.
Not only are these Buckeyes great, but what has set them apart is how QUICKLY these OSU players have started producing in the NFL, as apparent by the various rookie awards given out.
The 2016 DROY:
Joey Bosa
The 2017 DROY:
Marshon Lattimore
The 2019 DROY:
Nick Bosa
The 2020 DROY:
Chase Young
The 2022 OROY:
Garrett Wilson
AND it is pretty much guaranteed the 2023 OROY will be:
CJ Stroud
so among the last 8 years a rookie could win an award, 6 of them are buckeyes. crazy stuff.
and even besides the rookie award winners, guys like Chris Olave, Terry McLaurin, Ezekiel Elliott, Michael Thomas, and so many others became bonafide STARS in their first years.
