tldr: Stroud is the perfect QB for the Shanahan offense. The Texans, like the 49ers, don't subscribe to the S2 Cognition service. Their pre-draft evaluation of Stroud indicated he would be an ideal fit for their scheme. They just weren't sure how well he hold up processing/functioning the NFL's muddy pockets(there's no way to really forecast that). Stroud, however, alleviated those concerns early on. If executed by the right QB, the Shanahan offense is difficult to defend. Stroud is demonstrating top 3 QB, capital AAA anticipation w/ his throws b/c he trusts the shananan offensive scheme that the receivers are going to be where they are supposed to be. If you think teams are going to figure Stroud out, they're not.
Bryce Young on the other hand is burdened by Frank Reich's archaic offensive schemes that lends itself to easy predictability by the defense. Young is further burdened by taking on all the pre-snap responsibilities, atypical for a rookie. Young's hero ball in the pocket at Alabama is not translating to the NFL, and his size is a limiting factor. In short, he's thinking too much, the defense already knows where he is supposed to go w/ the ball, and he doesn't have the elite physical traits to overcome that w/ the off-schedule stuff.
Summary: it really matters who drafts you vis a vis QB success. Young would probably look competent w/ the Texans(although not as good as Stroud) while Stroud would probably be floundering like Young w/ the Panthers.
