With the 2023 Spring Game right around the corner, it's time to look ahead to the new Buckeye football season. After plenty of key departures, the incoming group of freshmen will be expected to grow up fast and contribute immediately. Fortunately for Ohio State, Ryan Day and company have brought in another elite recruiting class that looks capable of doing just that.
For many, this conversation begins and ends with the wide receivers. According to 247 Sports, Brandon Inniss is the lone five-star player joining the Buckeyes in 2023, with four-star recruits Noah Rogers and Carnell Tate also coming to Columbus to learn under Brian Hartline.
But with Ohio State's secondary giving up 994 passing yards and eight touchdowns over its final three games last year, perhaps it is one of the corners or safeties that is most intriguing. The trio of Jermaine Mathews, Calvin Simpson-Hunt, and Malik Hartford join a crowded group of Buckeye defensive backs, and it could prove difficult to keep the young kids off the field.
What's a Ryan Day recruiting class without an exciting addition to the quarterback room? This cycle, he brought in South Dakota native Lincoln Kienholz, whose athletic ability has been dropping jaws.
Dunk of the year candidate? @DigitalZSD love the reaction from teammates and young fans as much as the dunk itself @LincolnKienholz pic.twitter.com/6zsWtQLBIo
