H/T to Nils. May his forum topic RIP.
This thread is an opinion of what appears to be a minority of people on 11W. They just want to focus on constructive criticism rather than the more negative attitude that has been dominant the past 24 hours. You may not share that opinion. If so, you don’t have to comment here and nobody will be upset with you. If you want to have a constructive discussion that doesn’t center on calling people morons, then proceed to discuss below.
Really stings that OSU got their ass kicked, but man, the amount of people on this site who do not much background in football yet talk down about the team/staff is incredibly frustrating.
There are obviously problems. The outcome of The Game the last two years proves that. But the hubris of some insisting they have it figured out is painful to read. Please check yourself. Specifically:
- Please stop crying that players are "soft" or that they "quit" when you don’t know the situation. Maybe some players did quit. Maybe they didn't. Maybe the team is soft relative to other teams. Maybe they're not. All I know is that we--the fans--don’t really have a clue if that's the case. It's really not cool to project your own insecurities onto these guys who lay their bodies on the line every Saturday, just because you're mad they lost a game.
- Please stop talking trash about Ryan Day's play calling with the benefit of hindsight. I bet Day has some great critiques of his play calling yesterday, too! And if you think, that if Ryan Day got fired today he wouldn't get calls from top tier programs to come call their plays, you're out of your gourd.
- Please stop talking shit about CJ Stroud. No one is impressed that you once saw an open receiver when he didn't. Stroud doesn't get the same view as you do from C Deck or the Skycam. And at the end of the game, he signed autographs, spoke to media, accepted blame, and handled a tough loss in a game that he actually played in with class. He's done enough for OSU to warrant our respect.
Eleven Warriors is an anonymous community, so there's no way to know what the qualifications are for those who are so sure of themselves about what's wrong and how to fix it after yesterday's loss, but I politely (or maybe not so politely) ask us all to have some humility today.
We lost. It sucks. Let's have a little perspective.
