What a Saturday and not in a good way. Below are your top 10 teams. The Committee says it is an entire body of work, not the last game. All that being said, it appears OSU can back door themselves into the playoffs if USC, or maybe TCU slip up next week. I based this on the records below.
This is not without precendent. Alabama in 2017 lost by two scores to their rival, missed the championship game and still made the CFP. With a USC loss next week, and because of bias, Alabama will be the Buckeyes biggest competition for the final spot. It must be noted a two loss team has never made the CFP. and has always been passed over for a 1 loss team. Bama has ZERO big wins and 2 losses.
Ryan thinks the Buckeyes would be a dangerous team in the CFP. I am not so sure, but I'd rather lose in the CFP, as opposed to losing in the Rose Bowl.
Rank these teams below and you can up with your own conclusion. I only included victories over 3 loss or less teams as "best wins", but feel free to add 4 and 5 loss teams as "best wins" if you think they add value. I ranked them in the order I think they should be. As usual, to keep things positive, everybody gets an upvote when they post.
1.) Georgia 12-0 locked at 1 this week. Win or lose, they are in.
2.) Michigan 12-0 locked at 2 this week. Win or lose, they are in.
3.) TCU 12-0 Best win 9-3 kstate, losses none. Might not get in if they lose to KSU next week.
4.) USC 11-1. Best wins 9-3 UCLA, 9-3 Oregon st, loss to 8-3 Utah. Will not get in if they lose to Utah.
5.) Ohio State 11-1. Best win PSU 10-2, lost 12-0 UM
6.) Alabama 10-2. best wins none, losses to 9-3 LSU, 10-2 TN
7.) Penn State 10-2. best wins none, losses to 11-1 OSU, 12-0 UM
8.) Tennessee 10-2. best wins 9-3 LSU, 10-2 Alabama, losses to 12-0 GA, 8-4 SC
9.) Clemson 10-2. best win 9-3 FSU, losses 8-4 ND, 8-4 SC
10.) LSU 9-3 best win Alabama 10-2, losses 9-3 FSU, 10-2 TN, 5-7 A&M
