More video from the OSU Media-Sphere about the run game.

***Bonus for some folks here, it's not just commentary from fans with media credentials like Austin Ward nor is it from a PNG like Zach Smith.***

Ross Fulton provides good football scheme analysis. What's wrong with the run game or the offense the last 3 weeks (outside of weather)?  Essentially a little bit of everything (as we've discussed here) but it's not all doom and gloom.

In the pass game, he notices more teams trying to bracket Marvin Harrison's side of the field, essentially 3 players for 2 WRs.  Having JSN back would help, of course. But it's not a major problem yet. It does leave Julian Fleming in 1 on 1's with no help over the top on the other side of the field.

A couple of run game insights that he thinks will help now, and esp. against TTUN and beyond:

  • Run game diversity. Our run game was more diverse in play design and play calling before the bye. It became predictable and vanilla the last 3 games. Ross mentioned that earlier on we ran more plays like counter trey, for example.
  • Willingness to throw on 3rd and short. He seems a little concerned that we are trying to prove we are tough by ONLY running on 3rd and short. Bill Landis made this point too upon his film study. Like the last 11 or so 3rd and short plays we've ONLY run. Ross said: "It's okay to throw a slant to Marvin Harrison on 3rd and short."
