My new favorite Monday morning podcast is THE PODCAST's rewatch of the game with Bill Landis and Birm. They rewatched NW 2x.  It's not really a film study as much as it is watching the game to see if how they felt when it was being played holds up/changes upon rewatch. See how their thoughts stack up to ours:

OFFENSE

  • Weather wind truly bad. Gail force wind bad. Just awful. TV doesn't do it justice. Explains some of the drops
  • Guards are getting pushed back
  • Miyan played pretty well all things considered, too often forced to make his first cut 2 yards in backfield, 1 negative rush, 9 guys in the box. Also coming off two injuries last week.
  • Pop passes to EE are a little throwback to Paris Campbell 2018 and 2016 Curtis Samuel and that was very effective for that offense, maybe need more of those going forward.
  • Props To 99 from NW who was dominating all game. Sometimes the other team plays well.

DEFENSE

  • LBs and Safeties slow to trigger or playing too deep when it was obvious that NW was gonna run
  • Larry Johnson continues his mystifying D-line rotation. Cage and Hamilton had 40 snaps between them and produced 2 tackles.
  • Sometimes our best D-line isn’t in at critical moments and we get gashed.
  • Michael Hall was effective/disruptive when in the game but only got 19 snaps
  • Slow to adjust to NW having 6-7 olinemen and 2-3 TE packages… not getting a bigger personnel package out there. Running jumbo single wing football. Need size. When OSU played 3 or 4 LBs it helped
  • Defense looked confused at what to do with Wildcat and Read Option something they don’t see a lot of. Multiple times looking at the sideline with hands raised asking what to do
  • JK Johnson struggled tackling. Maybe why we saw more of J. Brown who likes to hit.  No Hancock… wasn’t injured but didn’t play

TEAM THOUGHTS

  • Entire team seemed not ready for contact at the beginning of the game
  • Questioning whether the Oline or Dline has guys who, if it’s cold and rainy against TTUN, believe that they’re going to go in and expect to dominate. They don’t see that it looks like that for either of our lines right now.
  • This years team is better at taking lumps and finding a way to win, tougher than last years team, but not sure they’re tougher than TTUN.
  • They think the 2018 and 2021 OSU teams would have likely lost this game.
  • Are we tough? Tougher than last year. Tough enough? We'll know NOV. 26th.

Watch for yourself...
