You never lose to those pricks. Ever. Ever. And you work it every day. And I don’t give a shit if you’re from California or Texas or whatever, as soon as you say you’re a Buckeye this is part of your life for the rest of your life - and you don’t lose to those pricks. You beat them every day. Every day. - Urban Meyer
Look, yesterday was hard to watch. I get it. Hell, I even posted in the game threads, which is a no-no.
But my god, the bed wetting by some corners of this fan base in a year when we are 9-0 and Clemson and Alabama are out of the playoffs is just over the top. Yes, our run game is a struggle to watch, and yes OSU should dice up Northwestern in any conditions.
Also though - OSU has won every game by double digits. The defense fired everyone and guess what? It got good! It doesn't give up many points, it's multiple, it changes formations and disguises stuff and is fun to watch. The team's best offensive player hasn't played and instead, we discovered that Coach Hartline had found and coached up a guy who is even better! Maybe stop and enjoy this season, some of these guys will be gone in a few months and you might miss them.
Anyhow, this all comes back to the first quote from UFM - you cannot lose to those pricks up north. And this is why - because the entire season for many fans is just massive projection onto the Nov. 26 game. The reason everyone freaked out yesterday is because of the echos of last year in Ann Arbor - the weather, the run game. Too many people have PTSD - one loss in a decade, and people are terrified it's a trend and not an anomaly. And people view every singe game through that prism and every single bad play results in some sort of confirmation bias about Michigan.
The point of the rivalry is to live and breathe it every day. And it's very real to understand that Nov. 26 is the season. But losing last year shouldn't result in a bunch of fans literally mouthing Jim Harbaugh's talking points and bad-mouthing the Buckeyes team and coaches and work ethic. The Game is coming and it's going to take care of itself. You will like the results, trust me.
