Outside of a few jitter-steps and us having to run into 0 coverage a lot…. Miyan ran hard and played well.
He got no garbage time yards. His longest run was 27 yards. Conditions were terrible and the defense had the advantage today against us because of it.
I stopped expecting a blowout when I heard the conditions. When I saw them, it was confirmed going to be a tighter game. Now, I was thinking 28-7, 31-14 type game. We scored less than I thought we would.
Here’s Miyan’s stat line: 26 111 4.3 2 27
And he was running against 9 or 10 guys all day. That’s impressive that he did so well.
I think it was also nice to see CJ running read option and QB designed runs … and scrambling to the tune of 79 yards.
Yes, there were still some slow adjustments on offense. The defense struggled with QB option and Wildcat for a bit. Fleming and Stover couldn’t catch this week (last week they struggled blocking).
We also had an emotional road game last week…and back to back road games plus terrible weather made this look bad.
If we score 7-10 more points, I think we feel a lot better about this game.
