There have been a lot of questions on 11W regarding which Bowl Game OSU may go to. Many say the Rose, others say the Peach, and yet others say the Fiesta. Any of them could be right. Hopefully this will clarify how the picks are chosen.
Peach Bowl Dec 30: Highest ranked At Large Teams
Orange Bowl Dec 31: CFP Teams
Cotton Bowl Dec 31: CFP Teams
Fiesta Bowl Jan 1: Highest ranked At Large Teams
Sugar Bowl Jan 1: SEC Runnerup vs Big12 Champ/Runnerup
Rose Bowl Jan 1: B1G Champ/Runnerup vs Pac12 Champ (Utah)
The top 12 teams generally play in NY6 games, but it varies a little. For example, the ACC champ is unlikely to be a top 12 team, but they will take someone's spot (from the top 12 teams). Also the highest ranked conference champion G5 team will typically make the cut too, so Houston could take a top 12 team spot too.
As of today, these teams (below) are the most likely to be considered for NY6 bowl. 17 teams for 12 spots. Oregon is already out, hence the strike thru. Depending on the outcomes of Saturday's game, 5 of the teams listed below (plus Oregon) will not make it.
