Pridgeon spent most of the 2019 season, his first year out of Ohio State, on the Browns' practice squad, but opted out of the 2020 NFL season due to COVID-19. As documented in a recent story by ESPN's Elizabeth Merrill, Pridgeon's decision not to play in 2020 came after his mother died from COVID-19 last March; he is also considered to be at higher risk of COVID-19 complications because he suffers from hypertension.
