We gave up 490 total yards against IU yesterday ( 11/21 ). We gave up 548 total yards against Maryland in 2018.

Which performance do you think was worse? 

I understand there is concern and I agree that we need SOMETHING to change but I think if we could limit even half of those big plays yesterday, that game isn't close. Against Maryland, we couldn't stop the run at all and frankly I think that was more concerning and it isn't close. 

Both performances are pretty bad but I guess the silver lining is, if we can even cut down on half of these big plays, we look more like LSU last year than 2016 Ohio State as far as Playoffs go ( I am aware that 2016 OSU had a better defense but in general that team wasn't all that great for a playoff team ).

TL;DR - IU barely ever methodically ran down the field. Most plays were large chunk plays or huge explosive plays. Stop the big play and maybe we will get somewhere.
