I tire of the lack of strategy, creativity, and solutions that we've heard from leadership. There's more ways than one to get this done. IT'S not rocket surgery! :)
If your school CAN follow safety protocols & afford it - you should be able to OPT IN to an early B1G season. Begin Oct. 10th. Probably affects about 1/2 of the league or a little less.
If your school CANNOT afford it & you don't feel safe - you should be able to OPT OUT to play a later date. Again, affects about half of the league or a little more. Begin in Jan or Feb.
Presumably, a hangup in all of this mess is money.
So - share the revenue that TV generates equally, no matter when you play. That's not "fair" so to speak, in one sense, but it keeps the league unified. Plus, you'll get more money now and save more jobs for your school & community IF YOU LET THOSE WHO CAN PLAY EARLY PLAY!
We DON'T need a unified plan going forward. We DON'T all need to play at the same time to be a "unified league." Don't punish OSU and other similar teams because your school leadership can't get something done quickly to follow protocols. We'll happily share the money with you if you let us play. Just don't be selfish & petty and ruin it for those who are capable.
