According to reports, Gene Smith reiterated that OSU is not pursuing fall football. In addition, he and the OSU president wanted to play a fall schedule as recently as yesterday. However, the B1G canceled its fall football schedule (it didn't cancel OSU's ability to play a schedule though, right?).
It seems easy to me that the path forward would be for OSU to put together a schedule with other teams who are planning to play this fall. It may/may not include B1G teams, but canceling the B1G schedule doesn't mean its teams can't play games outside of the conference. The Big 12 plans on playing one OOC game each and there are a handful of PAC12 teams that want to fill a schedule plus you have a couple of G5 conferences that have not canceled their seasons yet. OSU could easily put together a 10 game schedule with teams from the Big 12, PAC 12 and G5. I'm not sure what is preventing them from doing this other than logistics. It seems easy enough, you'd have six weeks to put it together and start at the end of September when the ACC/SEC/Big 12 plan to begin their seasons.
What am I missing?
