As I was reading through the great write up on the career of Greg Mattison by 11w, I noticed that he had coached at Northwestern beginning in 1978 as their defensive line coach. That year jumped out at me, but I couldn't put my finger on it until I looked it up. That was Woody's last season as a coach. We played and defeated Northwestern that year by a score of 63-20 at home, in what clearly isn't a coincidental offensive output. So, Greg Mattison is one of a dwindling number of active coaches who can claim they coached against Woody Hayes. It's petty neat to think about, but it also puts his age into some perspective.
