The system we have now is far too subjective, its more like a Beauty Pageant.

The FCS has a 24 team playoff, every conference champion gets in, along with numerous at-large bids. Teams play an 11 game season (for the most part) and no conference championship games.

I definitely don't think it's practical for the FBS to move to the SAME model with 24 teams (even though as a fan it would be amazing). Instead maybe the FBS should create a playoff that includes only the power 5 conference champs and 3 to 5 at-large bids. Abandon the conference championship games, and have all teams play an 11 game season, with 8 conference games. That way, no one has an advantage (I'm talking to you ND and SEC). And an 11 game season would make up for the extra potential post season games. And a lot of college football programs that run fiscal deficits (sorry Kent State) they can save some money.

In 2016 Youngstown State made the FCS playoff and went on a run to make it all the way to the title game before they lost to James Madison. They played terrible for the first half of conference play, but got their QB back and played like their heads were on fire and made an improbable run thru the playoffs. And the playoff matchups are fantastic, you get to see teams come to your house that would never in a million seasons come there otherwise. Bama would never come to the Shoe, imagine those southern boys up here in December!
