While we still have hope for the playoffs I recognize there is a solid chance we are on the outside looking in. Obviously if we beat Purdue we wouldn’t have had anything to worry about.  Most years though there is going to be 1 slip up and it’s important to put yourself in the best position possible to make the playoff.  Part of the reason we were sitting behind other 1 loss teams was that the strength of our schedule hasn’t ended up as strong as it looked at the start of the season.

Looking at the 2019 out of conference schedule of Florida Atlantic, Cincinnati, and Miami (OH) and it appears that if we do anything less than go undefeated we could be on the outside looking in due to schedule strength. Obviously TCU wasn’t as strong this year but I would much have preferred having them on the schedule instead of canceling this game. Or even better we could have went the Alabama route and scheduled another neutral site meeting against a power 5 school.
