I think we all can point out a few problems with this football team this year. But personally, there's one problem that stands out bigger than the rest. It's not the Lb's (Please fire Davis), the safeties (???), or running game (hopefully it's fixed....). To me, far and away the biggest problem is this team doesn't play with fire. They don't play with passion. They don't play with that burning desire to do anything to win.

I don't see it in Haskins. With the Maryland game as an exception (and hopefully now the norm), he seems like he doesn't want to take the hit to pick up an extra yard or two or wait the extra half second for the receiver to come open down field. You never questioned it with JT, and I don't think most of us would question it with Tate. But this was a knock on Haskins in high school, that he wasn't competitive, and I'm still wondering about it today.  

I don't see it in our OL either. In 2014, we had a bunch of road graters up front. They mauled people. Nobody made tackles in the back field. They routinely put people on their backs. Don't get me wrong, Zeke was amazing down the stretch. But ask him why he was so good, and he'll tell you how great that OL was. And in all honesty, our OL this year is quite the opposite. They seem content to pass block, and run block when they have to. They don't get after people, and that's partly why our run game has faltered this year.

And maybe most importantly, I don't see it in our defense. Defense is all about passion and intensity. My old coach always said two things about defense. One- FLY to the football and arrive with bad intentions. Two - if you do number 1, you can make up for a lot of mistakes. As a defense, I've only seen us do that for one series - Nebraska game after Fuller got ejected. After that, we played angry. And guess what, Nebraska didn't move the ball much after the ejection. Think back to the last couple years defense. They possessed the fire. They played angry, with a burning passion to smash the opposing offense. We need that from this defense ASAP. We need that from this team ASAP, because we're going to need it to beat xichigan.
