So I noticed that the biggest bright spot today was we had a dominating run game. Damn I missed that. Let's break down the differences today over the past few games. and I'm well aware Nebraska isn't good defensively.. But neither is purdue or minnesota and we couldn't run for shit against them.
First thing I noticed and the BIGGEST thing we've been asking for was....
PRO STYLE PLAYS!!!!
-actually using a TE to block!!!! Previously, OSU would be at a -1 man disadvantage in the box. The problem was with this was Haskins wasn't an option in the run game (at least one the defense wasn't expecting) so the Rbs had VERY little run room. I even noticed a 2 TE set. Not much running from the spread
Also , the biggest thing was eliminating the read option/ RPO plays. They focused on downhill running and it worked wonders
Another thing is JK Dobbins got a majority of the carries, it's clear he's the superior back and outside of limited carries for weber it should stay that way.
I'm one of the few people who thought the OL wasn't the MAIN problem with the run game. It wasn't dominant for sure and it can be better but It's big and talented enough to supplement a well schemed run game.
What are your thoughts on todays run game? Outside of that and special teams today was pretty... meh
