Twilight of the Gods, the Valkyries Bring Ohio State to Victory

In the twilight of Saturday eve, the Ohio State warriors were being out-coached and out-fought by pesky and speedy Horned Frogs.  The Buckeye thrusts were thwarted and their offense was unable to score a touchdown in the first half.  But then the Valkyries came and covertly guided the Buckeyes to victory 40-28.

The fates were much darker, however, for their sometime enemies and sometime allies in Big Ten League of the Power 5.  Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

1. Most alarming was the defeat of the #6 Badgers of the Wisconsin woodlands 24-21 by religious Cougars from the Rocky Mountains.

2. The Knights of the East Coast Rutgers were dive-bombed by the Jayhawks from the Kansas plains 55-14; thus they soared and scored more points than had the mighty Buckeyes.

3. The Turtles of the Chesapeake Tidewaters were overwhelmed by the Owls that roost in the Temple 35-14.

4. The once mighty Huskers of the Nebraska prairie were defeated by an army from Troy 24-19.  The Huskers have not started a campaign with two defeats since 1957.

5. The Illini Indian braves were stampeded by Bulls from the Everglades of South Florida 25-19.

6. The brawny Boilermakers were badly clawed by the Tigers of Mo from west of the Mississippi River 40-37.

7. And the zippy Zips from unknown Akron subdued the Wildcats from the Northwestern shores of Lake Michigan 39-34.

And these fateful defeats of the Power 5 warriors continued westward to the Sonora Desert and beyond to the Pacific Ocean of the Pac 12 Confederation.

1. The Devils of the Sun were ambushed by Aztecs in Mission Valley just upstream from San Diego Bay 28-21.

2. The Wolfpack from the desert just east of Lake Tahoe stalked and chewed up the Beavers from the Oregon rain forests 37-35.

3. The Trojans from the sunny vales of Southern California were trampled by a herd of Longhorn cattle in Texas 37-14.

4. And most alarming of all, a pack of Bulldogs from the raisin capital mauled and mutilated the Uclan Bruins 38-14 in their den at Arroyo Seco of Pasadena.

Oh woe, we lament the fates of the once invincible who were taken by the Valkyries. Surely this is the twilight of the God-like Power 5.
