I think we officially saw the best this team has to offer yesterday. And yes I agree with posts on other forums, the team we saw yesterday can absolutely play with any team in the nation. We beat a tough Mich St. team 48-3 and anyone who watched the game knows it could have easily been a 60 point beat down. I think the coaches laid out a great blue print for this team to be successful moving forward.

1.) The offense should always be run first and run heavy. Our Oline is at its strongest run blocking, we have two great running backs that each offer something a little different. JT is best used as a weapon with zone read runs and developing quick passes off of that. This also opens things up for a few shots down the field. In the red zone Barrett is a beast, if they run him every series down there we are sure to get 7 points.

2.) The Defense arguably played its best game yesterday. The thing that stood out to me was the Dline played great and I think they found their starting LB rotation. The DBs looked much better in coverage but I think the reason was they could actually concentrate on guarding their men and not having to come up and make a tackle every play. When you have LBs that are actually stepping up and making tackles this keeps your DBs in the secondary. Borland and Worley played great against the run yesterday and Harrison showed us he is very capable of guarding RBs and TEs in coverage. This will be the key moving forward. Can our Dline keep making plays and can the linebackers hold their own so the DBs can concertante on coverage. Either way I’m excited to see if we can keep the team that showed up yesterday continue to show up the rest of the year.
