Down in Nashville with my wife visiting my wife's cousins. Doing Grand Ol Opry Friday night then hitting broadway for some good food and drinks. For the game on saturday, her cousin is smoking some brisket. I'm making a honey bourbon bbq sauce to go with it. Not sure what else we are having, but it will be tasty for sure. Good southern cooking never dissappints.

Honey Bourbon Bbq:

1/2 cup bourbon. I am a woodford man, so using some of that.
3 Tbsp brown sugar
3 Tbsp apple cider vinegar
2 Tbsp molasses
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp crushed red pepper
1 tsp liquid smoke
1 Tbsp spicy brown mustard
1/2 tsp black pepper
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 cup ketchup

Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan, bring to a boil, and simmer for about 15 minutes stiring very often. Makes about 2 cups once cooked down, so I normally quadruple the recipe. Sweet at first then the heat hits you at the end, but it isnt too bad.

I sometimes sustitute chipotle pepper for the red and black, just depends on how hot you want it. Can use maple syrup instead of molasses as well.
