Urban has always taken pride employing the best athletes on coverage to pin the opponent back behind their 20 yard line as he disdains any concession to allow them to start on the 25. It's apparent that we do not have those usual elite athletes this year, or there have been too many break downs on lane assignments.  So much so that in the game against Penn State, after Barkley's opening kick off return for a touch down, OSU tried to play keep away by squibbling the kicks with very negative results. Particularly infuriating was the final kick off with OSU leading by a mere point and PSU with plenty of time remaining needed only to get into field goal range; why did Urban order another squibbler, allowing PSU to start on the 42? We owe it to our great D that PSU was held in check to insure a happy ending.  It surely was not due to a genius coaching strategy.

Why do we recruit scholarship kickers, then tell them not to kick it into the end zone? Worse yet, they can't even keep in kicks in bounds when they aim for the corner. Most teams have walk on kickers who simply boom them out of the end zone.  I am not making 7 million a year to coach, nor am I a mensa, but why would you purposely kick off with squibblers to play keep away from a returner and allow them great field position when you can just kick it out of the end zone and make them start from the 25?
