This piece is for those of you that like a little trivia and looking at a lot of historical scores. Following the trivia and crib notes, you will find a comprehensive breakdown of the series between Ohio State and Indiana.

Indiana Series Trivia

  1. Can you name the last year Ohio State lost to Indiana?
  2. What is the only decade the Buckeyes had a losing record against the Hoosiers? The 1900s, 1910s, or the 1920s?
  3. The most points Ohio State scored against Indiana occurred in 1957 and 1983. How many points did the Bucks score? To narrow it down your choices are 55, 56, 57 or 58.
  4. 1997 was the last time OSU shutout Indiana. How many times has Ohio State blanked the Hoosiers?

The Series History Crib Notes

  • Ohio State leads the overall series 73–12–5* and has outscored the Hoosiers 2,354-977 (26-11).
  • The Buckeyes have won 22-straight in the series and are 53–2–2 (.947) since 1952.
  • Ohio State has won 10-consecutive games in Bloomington and is 25-1-1 since 1914 against Indiana in Memorial Stadium.
  • When the game is played at Indiana the Buckeyes are 26–2–1 and have outscored the Hoosiers 814-383 (28-13).
  • Ohio State is 24–2 against Indiana when Ohio State is ranked and Indiana is not ranked in games played in Columbus.
  • 1993 was the last time both teams were ranked when they played. Ohio State won 23-17 in Columbus.
  • 1990 was the last time Ohio State did not defeat Indiana (27-27).
  • 1988 (7-41) was the last time Indiana defeated Ohio State in Bloomington.
  • The Buckeyes are 16–0 when they are ranked and Indiana is not ranked and the game is played in the Hoosier state.

Trivia Answers

1.Can you name the last year Ohio State lost to Indiana?

1988. The Hoosiers rolled the Buckeyes 41-7 in Memorial Stadium. The schools tied in 1990.

2. What is the only decade the Buckeyes had a losing record against the Hoosiers? The 1900s, 1910s, or the 1920s?

The Buckeyes finished the 1900s with an 0–4–1 record against their neighbors to the West. Pretty pathetic that 25 percent of Indiana's wins against the Buckeyes came within the first five games of the series.

3. The most points Ohio State scored against Indiana occurred in 1957 and 1983. How many points did the Bucks score? To narrow it down your choices are 55, 56, 57 or 58.

Woody Hayes' traveled to Bloomington and incinerated Indiana 56-0 in '57. Earle Bruce's '83 squad won 56-17 in Ohio Stadium.

4. 1997 was the last time OSU shutout Indiana. How many times has Ohio State blanked the Hoosiers?

The Buckeyes have outscored Indiana 307-0 in the 17 shutouts.
