Interesting read from Ari Wasserman at cleveland.com:

As announced in April, Gene Smith's assistant of seven years will head to Chestnut Hill, MA to serve as Boston College's newest athletic director.  Per Wasserman, Martin Jarmond's role will take effect on June 2.  The article above provides unique access into his primary duty at OSU - scheduling football games.  Below are some highlights which illustrate the dynamic and difficult nature of his responsibility:

It's kind of crazy how simple networking can lead to a future scheduling. While at a meeting following the announcement of last year's playoff -- which included Alabama, Ohio State, Washington and Clemson -- Jarmond was sitting next to his counterpart from Washington.

"He mentioned casually, 'Would you guys want to play?'" Jarmond said. "We literally were sitting at a dinner table, and that's how that started."

* Urban Meyer doesn't have input on the schedule and doesn't really give his opinion, but Jarmond knows what's advantageous for the team.

"Urban has a whole lot of other things he needs to worry about," Jarmond said.

There was a time when Meyer got a little angry with Jarmond. That was in 2014 when Ohio State had to open with Navy before its big non-conference game with Virginia Tech, which it ended up losing. Meyer wasn't pleased with having to prepare for the triple option before a season-altering game.

"So it's Jarmond's fault they lost to the Hokies?," Wasserman writes.
