At 225lbs-plus - Zeke's times in the low to mid 4.4s were extremely impressive. For his size, Michael Thomas didn't hurt himself running a 4.57 and 4.58 at the combine, either.
And at 6'5" - 250, Cardale's times in the low 4.8s were pretty good, too. It's a shame he injured a hammy in the process, by the way
For that matter - at 6'8" and nearly 320lbs, Taylor Decker's 5.21 was nothing to sneeze at. All of those times must have served to help each player with their respective "draft stocks".
While Braxton's times in the low 4.5s couldn't be considered to have been "slow" by any means - it's probably save to say he was a bit disappointed with his results. Based on his earlier comments, I was expecting something closer to a full tenth faster - or possibly more.
However, while raw speed was never considered to be his strong suit, Jalin Marshall's times would have to be classified as, at least, a little surprising. Out of our "speed position" guys at the combine, Jalin is easily the smallest - so his 40 times in the 4.6s were unexpected. In fact, he was clocked at barely under a 4.7 for one run.
To put that in to perspective - anything slower than a 4.7 for a speed position player would surely catch the eye of the coaches at a reasonably decent high school program.
At his size - and relative lack of production at the college level (largely through no fault of his own, incidentally) Jalin really needed to impress the NFL folks this weekend.
Like it or not - 40 times are more important for wide receivers that they are for any other offensive position. He's still a fine athlete, of course, and he's definitely going to get a chance to prove himself at the next level - but with so little else to go on, he may have just cost himself quite a bit of draft stock (and a great deal of money, potentially).
There's been some debate here at 11W over whether it was wise for him to leave early or not. Assuming he would have been the leading receiver in a very good offense in '16 - that question may have just been answered, unfortunately.
All in all - it was a pretty good day for the Buckeyes, though -
