A few days before playing Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl Deshone Kizer shared his thoughts about playing the Buckeyes. Quotes from The Plain Dealer and Chicago Tribune.
How did Kizer feel about Ohio State when he was growing up in Toledo?
"Ever since I've been playing this game I've been hearing about the Ohio State Buckeyes, and I never really rooted for them growing up," Kizer said. "The name to be honest is a little sour in my head just from dealing with the Ohio State-Michigan rivalry and all that good stuff growing up.
"It kind of felt like it was being force-fed to me," Kizer said.
Did Kizer's Hatred For Ohio State Help Him?
In the Fiesta Bowl Deshone Kizer was 22/37 for 284 yards, two touchdowns, an interception and lost a fumble against Ohio State. The Buckeyes sacked Kizer twice. His stats probably would have been drastically different had Joey Bosa not been ejected.
